Gerry, New York Fire Department 75th Annual Rodeo - 2

Well, we went to the rodeo, then enjoyed what we saw and we were amazed!

The event was very well organized with all seemingly going well. We went on Thursday which honored First-Responders and the Military, and we were very thankful for that.

We opted to get the BBQ meal which included milk, water or coffee, the meal itself consisting of the cooked pulled beef, with two types of BBQ sauce; a vegetable and salad with a roll, and later, even providing a little ice cream!

Volunteers patrolled the dining area where we sat inside and away from insects, away from the sun. They looked for diners to provide liquids for drinks, to clean the tables and bus away done meal and utensils etc, and just to provide whatever items a diner could need! Walking to this dining area, there was even a volunteer opening the door! Of course, since everyone knows how difficult it could be opening doors while the hands are holding carefully a filled plate of BBQ! As was our sheltered dining area, the outside dining areas were full and just as well attended to by those in our area!!

The stands and vendors were very busy by many, plus there were US Army soldiers in a tent for information and recruitment.
The food stands were very busy, and that is always good for such events. But it was just killing time for us and everyone else, as soon the sky got dark and we could see people already up on the bleachers of the rodeo!

Soon we joined that crowd, finding a neutral high spot and began the wait with hundreds others. The rodeo announcer was very articulate with what I always refer to as having a radio-voice. He remained announcing throughout the rodeo, mounted on a very well-groomed horse! Amazing!

Hydroplane Boats are HERE

The teams are already here for the Thunder on the Niagara races starting tomorrow! Most of North Tonawanda's popular Gratwick Waterfront Park are parked and ready within the park, of course with drivers and teams included! It's finally going to be a great weekend, with minimal clouds and winds, of which the winds are very important to the welfare of the boat pilots, and the race itself!

Here's pictures of the boats all waiting to race in the Niagara River this weekend, photographed hours ago as the sun was setting!!! Don't they look like planes?
